Mine's got an alternator not a dynamo now but I don't really want to put an aftermarket fuel gauge on itThe S1 was positive earth & when we swapped engines to negative earth gauge worked the same.
But we did remove the Dynamo & rectifiers
It's always been like it, reading back through the history it seems the only answer is fit a series 3 gaugeThe S1 is on an alternator now & still runs the original one gauge .never swapped the cables over
when did your problems start?
I can see a trip to craddock coming on when the counter reopens for a chat with Steve, he usually points me in the right direction when it comes to early and later part numbers....Iirc early s2 senders are different to later ones?
Mine is 59, tdi with alternator and reads fine.
i dont have one of these on my 2A, think they came in later oninstrument voltage regulator

Again Iirc the earlier sender is NLA and as rare as hens teeth.
I think later cars had the voltage stabiliser, the real mans early cars had full fat voltage
Petrol 236017
Diesel 271230, seems to cross over to 529969, neither cheap!

I ain't that desperate at the mo, according to craddocks the part number has been superceded
It's got a new voltage regulator which I bought the same time as I made the loom
I'll add the sender to the list of things I'll splash out on one day along with a rebuilt steering box that will take my old wire steering wheel, a new front bumper, an overdrive and a matching spare tyreBargain!
I aint looked at mine for ages, but diesel models also have a low fuel warning built in.

Alas no, in my haste to get the steering wheel off a rottten series I bought to break to sell I opted for the angle grinder instead of plusgasWire steeing wheels look nice, but in the cod and damp turn your hands brown, hence they all seem to have covers on them
You can adjust the steering box.
Overdrives are er overrated!
As are matching spares.
Yeah. This is my current onedo you mean one of these? its what I have on mine...
