How do you test the cab heater fan speed switch on a defender 90?

Problem is it works on single speed but when you slide the switch to position 2 it makes no diferrence.

searched the other topics and was wondering if I need to replace switch or resistor?

Is there a way of testing single/double fan speed with a wire link?

Cheers

Checked it out further today by getting "she who must be obeyed" operate the heater control whilst I kept an eye on the fan motor.
1, When she slid the fan speed control switch down to the first click the motor was stationary :(

2, Fan stationary

3, When slid right down to the bottom the fan came on :)

Any ideas what the fix will be, new switch or resistor?

most likely resistor, but unplug the fan and see if yu get volts down both supply wires, depending on switch setting.

cant you just by-pass the resistor?.....I mean who wants their fan on low? Its a Landy, surely off or full belt is all you'll ever want
