Hello from a land rover (1991 cws 90 ) virgin.

Following a post purchase servise, I was presented with a catalogue of jobs that needed doing?
Anyway most of them were bush replacements and the thing that is putting me off doing them myself if the (apparent) need for a 10000000 tonne press.
Now some bright spark has sugested sticking the offending bush (and presumebly the big bit of metal that goes with it as well) in a fire, untill the rubber burns away and then one throws away the middle bit and then fits the new bit. Fewww!
My queerie is, is it ok to heat these parts up in a fire to remove the bushes? or shoukld I let the garage do it?

Michael.

Michael.

It is possible to burn the rubber out but it tends to be done with a blow torch not throwing it in a fire. Also you'll still have to get the outer steel ring usually by cutting it with an hacksaw blade.

burnt mine out and hacksawed the bit that was left. Got sum new Deflex polywotsit bushes which are a scoosh to fit as they're in two halves and just push in by hand:cool:

Blowtorch!? Feck me that's extreme... int it best to get her to go o the salon fer that sort o' thing? Failing that some 'ot water should get the wax 'ot enuff to get the bush off ;)
