I dropped my girlfriend at her Parent's place for xmas then headed down to my folk's - and broke down within 6 miles of the house.

Feckin EBP was shagged, totally cooked and had blown the whole EWP system so I pulled over as soon as the needle started going up, I don't think it overheated badly. It was ****ing down and pitch black, didn't much fancy looking for the fuse by the side of the dual carriageway so just called the RAC and got the fecker on a truck and back to my parent's house.

So DC assured me it was safe to plumb it into the heater inlet, methinks it is not. I'll replace the fuse and disconnect the ****ed EBP which should allow me to limp home to Notts albeit with no heater. After that I'm not sure. The EBP has to come out but then I will have a **** heater again. But at least it seemed to be working before that cooling wise.

The only option I am going to explore before tearing the whole bloody lot out (and stick an L series in) is to make a flow restrictor that mimics an open thermostat- hopefully this will create enough back pressure from the radiator to force some hot coolant up the heater matrix.

To it's credit,the system held out pretty well as I think the EBP went west around Tewkesbury. That's not bad really.

Sorry to hear the ewp is giving you some grief :( sometimes these things happen but the trick is not to be beaten especially when you are so close. The ebp is a good idea but maybe it's safer to drive it from a separate supply, maybe the heater fan supply? But try the restrictor first to see if it works. Good luck and have a good xmas ;)

Try to put it out of your head for a few days, and relax, buddy.

Why not rip the k series out and put a 200hp tickFord lump in it.

Haha yeh mate you know it :D!

If I can't get it to work then we'll have fun considering engine transplants but I thinkit's just that the EBP was a ****pile. Merry christmas everyone :)!
 
Speaking of engines……..firstly leave mine out of it but secondly hows that lexus 90 coming along ? Not seen anything on that for a while

got a custom rad that needs mounting as bigger than original, had a look and made a start at mounting and modifying front of it.
hopefully I'll get keen with it and have it going for show. but as I have an appointment for an MRI scan in new year on my lower bowel and it has been cold and ****ing it down Slowly is the answer

haha well its made more progress than mine then, been ****ing it down so hard here that it hasn't even been worth stepping outside to try and bump it

Looking forward to seeing yours when its up and running as theres a lot of work gone into it so far

Also, you are messing about with a prototype system that as far as i know is pretty much completely unproven in long term use, so problems are quite likely to arise. I would say though, that with such a critical part of the car being basically on an evaluation period, it would be ideal to have backup transport in case of failures so you are not left stuck while it is repaired or returned to standard or whatever you decide.

You're eggsactly right mate, I'll be using gf's Seat Ibiza for long journeys until I'm sure it's good. The main cooling circuit really is sorted and it's amazing, it's just the heater thats left to sort out :). But I'll get there.

Sorry to hear of these problems, albeit from my position of not being 100pc what you are trying to achieve. If mine played up like this, I probably would burn it on basis of primary function of motor car to get you A to B etc. Maybe step back from it, then fix it, then just drive about in it! I say this to be calming not sarcastic:)

This isn't the first time, the designers working on the Focke Wulfe 190 had dreadful problems with cooling the bird until they nicked a cooling design from a captured allied plane;). I guess it'sa bit like that.
 
sorry to hear about your hassel very poor timing ,why dont you just but it back to original cooling set up barring your engine been damaged at the time of failure it would be a least reliable

Ha ha, realise you will not be put off your quest. Everything has and seems to work fine on the cooling side of my FL, so you are trying to further improve this cooling so HGF can never occur???
 
Well **** this is not encouraging. Just dug out the fuse for the EWP system and it appears to be ok, no visual signs of being burnt out at least.

This is bad as that means that the controller might be fried which will mean I is stuck here :(. The things is that DD did the electrickery so I'm not too familiar with it. Might be another fuse has blown? Don't know, but I don't much fancy waiting for a new controller to test :(.
