Hi. I have got myself a wrap around bull bar for my disco. I am removing the lower vallance this weekend and am wanting to know if I will still be able to fit the bull bars once i have hacked up the bumper?

yes you will, as they bolt to the same place as the bumper does on the chassis. i left my bumper complete thou. side note you will need to either remove or notch the plastic part that the number plate dcrews to

i was in two minds whether to keep the bumper whole but a few people on here advised my to modify it for off road use.

yeah the front vallance does tend to get ripped off when playing. i left mine on as she doesn't really go off road. plus i like the look of it on.

i have decided to buy a full standard bumper from ebay and keep it for on road and cut up my old one which is cracked anyway to put on for when i hit the mud

so out of curiousity. is a set of bull bars strong enough to be used as a towing point if you get stuck of road?
are`nt they also supposed to be illegal, or is it just a myth?

Only illegal if bought brand new, if bought second hand then it should be ok ... but if plod got fussy you would have to prove that they were originally on the car from the factory (yes officer they were on it when I bought the Disco ;))

possibly depends on the type of bar but no modifications were required when i fitted mine, just rested nicely against the number plate surround.

:5biagree:If it's an official LR product then it will fit without adjustment's, some after market ones sit closer to the bumper though and do require a bit of plastic trimming.

mine did. had to remove th3 plastic trim behind the reg plate. Mine also have a towing point at the bottom which are part of the bracket

towing points on mine too, one on each side so took the original towing eye off when i fitted it :) ok for a short tow but not enough for a recovery point

thought i was going to have to remove the valance but a little pressure and it fit straight through the holes.
