Hi all i hope you are all doing well.

I have converted my good friend into a Defender man and i am planning on helping him build a 130 camper.

Anyone know or has converted a 90/110 into a 130? As in bought a 130 chassis and used a 90 or a 110 as a donor vehicle and then had the log book changed to a 130?

Cheers Landy Lee

Only way this could be done 'legally' in the UK would be to get it IVA'd. Which would likely put it on a Q plate. I'd suggest this would be more hassle and cost than just buying a 127/130 to begin with. The physical act of building a 130 is pretty easy. Indeed the early 127's where actually 110 chassis' that LR chopped and extended! The 130 was the introduction of a dedicated chassis with a 127" wheelbase. Which you can buy new replacements for.
But in the UK changing the wheelbase would be deemed as a major modification, hence the need to get it Type Approved for road use.

You cannot re chassis a 90/110 onto a larger chassis.
Look for the most cheapest 130 and re build this on a new chassis.

what about a military ambulance?

Looks like a ****ed 130 it is!

Military Ambulance might be ok but he plans on a pop top GRP body on the back

Problem with big overlanders you can’t just use them daily.
What about a 90 & a fully kitted overland trailer with tent etc? Lot cheaper plus you can dump the trailer for outings.

Also depends on what your friend wants for luxury.

I'm thinking the trailer route but they are crazy money and no chance with me making one. Will be camping a lot in the 110 this year basic set up in back and roof tent, been looking at AWD vans to upgrade next year , got to admit seen some 130 campers and I would love one but the price at the minute . Good luck with the build!
