Hi All,

I had various parts of my elecrtics go though they would come back on it I bashed the steering column. By a process of elimination I figured out that one element of my fuse box had stopped working, so I moved everything on that element down to the spare one. Sorted. Or so I thought.

Everything other than the indicators has come back to life. So, I'm trying to track down the issue with the indicators with no luck so far.

The hazards work perfectly, so I know there's no issue with the bulbs or at least the final stretch of wiring
I've changed out the indicator stalk on the steering column for a known good one.
I've removed the flasher from the circuit and wired it directly. I believe this would give me a solid light, but it at least eliminates the flasher as the issue.
I've replaced all the fuses I can find, even those which are blatantly nothing to do with the lights.
I've removed, cleaned and remade all the related connections.

I'm no electrician and to be honest am not sure what I'd be checking for where if I attack things with a volt meter (though I do own one).

I am now completely at a loss what to try.

Any suggestions or advice VERY much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You guys are better than you realise. Simply posting on here made me realise what the issue was, or at least what it might be...

"Hmm... I did put those two identical green wires in the fuse box back in the correct places didn't I?"
"Why on earth is the heater connected to the indicator stalk?"
"DOH!"

Feeling a little sheepish now :S

We've all done it! Tell someone else your problem and, suddenly, you know what you've done. Good result.

I think you posted in the wrong section... no Series has heating. :p

I didn't say the heater works.
As far as I can tell that box by the bulkhead is simply to aid in lateral weight distribution. It doesn't actually DO anything :)

Nope, it's utterly silent. The fan switch on the dash does nothing and there is no noise whatsoever coming from the heater under the bonnet.

Sounds like your fan motor isn't working then! See if there's volts at the fan from the switch, if not chase back, if there are you might have to take the fan out and see if it's seized or the brushes are buggered. Four bolts on the passenger footwell and a lot of wiggling and it will come out.

Just removed, derusted & painted my snail fan. Had to drop the mud splash guards to get it out as it wouldn't fit via the engine bay. Worth checking the earth on the motor. There is a black wire visible from the engine compartment side which comes out of the fan motor and screws to the fan motor casing. This screw corrodes and may be causing an earth issue. The fan bracket itself then earths to the bulkhead via the bolts. There is a chance also that the fixing bolts are not giving a sound earth connection.
