Hi I have recently done a cambelt, tensioner & water pump on my 200 tdi
Just noticed on here you are mostly slating britpart, unfortunatly all the bits i bought were britpart, should i change the parts ??????? or have any of you any faith in these bits ?
Also the manual ( haynes ) states a 35 k cambelt change but have heard ppl leaving it for 50 - 60 k
What is the actual cam belt change interval for a 200 tdi ???????

What don't the peeps understand They just sell parts from a supplier with there packaging on it.

They meet the market demand. If people want cheap parts then they sell cheap parts, If people didn't buy the cheap parts then they wouldn't sell them

And they meet the market demand for quality parts which cost more. You get what you pay for.

The only one that can get blamed for the cheap parts are the ones that buy them.

We got the same thing over here. Example: u joints you can buy three different price range with the same part number 3 different prices/and quality.
Brake disc pads they have 4 different quality/price all same part number cheap to good

You get what you pay for take responsibility for what you pay for! Mate
 
I certainly wouldn't stretch my cambelt beyond 30k - 35k, just not worth it I don't think.

I have just rebuilt my front hubs, some parts were britpart, some oem, they do have a two year warranty now but some bits are just crap like the bottom swivel bearings, £1.75ea ? What are they made of cheese? I reused my old Timken ones as they wherein good nick.

As said, it's supply and demand, pay peanuts get monkeys I guess :)
 
Looking at a hub rebuilds myself soon, theres sooo many parts, really dont know where to start to be honest. Mine has lots of front & back play when changing gear etc if my description makes any sense ! if it were rear wheel drive id say it was prop shaft slap thats how it feels but the u/j,s seem free of play im worried it may need a new transfer box and its gonna be stupidly expensive !!
 
Mine has loads of shunt in it too, I did find a worn half shaft spline at a front drive flange, I am fitting new flanges but it's the shaft that's worn. The transmission is generally very sloppy but I just alter my driving to cater for it.

I can recommend the swivel kits from paddocks, but get better bottom swivel bearings, I am also upgrading my brakes from solid to vented discs using their disc kit.

Although I've had no problems with my Britpart swivel bearings.

Just to rock the boat, I've got Britpart wheel bearings ASWELL and they've been problem free with 18 months of 95% off road with negative offset wheels.

I wouldn't recommend them, buy genuine, but they've been sweet as **** for me and i would/will buy again tbh :)
 
Ok peeps a little advice. Timkin (sp) bearings are some of the best made world wide. and some auto suppliers don't carry them. But i have found that most industrail part suppliers do. and the part number is on the bearings, and a good farm tractor dealer has them also. If you can bring in the outer and inner race they can measure and match the bearings up for you, then just write the number down for next time
