Dear All, as part of front end refurb' have bought a set of Britpart poly bushes for the panhard rod. Now, whilst we all like a tight bush...are we allowed to say this?...the Britpart bush is crazily tight. In fact, the bush outer circumference is over sized to the panhard rod bush hole.

My Landy is a 1986 90. Has anyone else had this problem, are they meant to be this tight? I've fitted many, many poly bushes over the years so know how they should 'feel' on being pressed home. And/or, is there another bush type used on early coil 90's/Defenders?

Rgds,
Andrew

When I fitted poly bushes in the past they've looked too big for the hole. But always pressed in fine with some grease and arbor press.

Got a pic?

Okay, both panhard rod bush holes are 25mm/1", the bush outer dia' is 29mm. Reducing the leading circumference by 2mm all round seems too much for poly. I'll grease up them up and pop in the vice...and report back in case others too are wanting to replace with poly bushes.

I had the same problem, used a file in the panhard rod hole to clean it up and plenty of grease before pressing home in the vice.
It was also difficult to get the end in the axle and had to open it up before whacking it in with persuader...

All my poly bushes so far have been almost an oversized fit. I had to persuade the a frame brackets slightly to get those in and the shock top ones look too big. As long as they’re in and torque down properly I’m happy though
