Ok so been doing some googling. Getting my air filter this week hopefully, along with my exhaust. My question is. Is it better to put the breather pipe into the air intake like original or put it to a collection bottle? I have read the stories of the oil getting sucked in and the engine free running. Any advice is welcome.

I'm running a 200tdi but I've did both. Mine goes to a catch can and then into the air ducting BEFORE the air filter. Saves getting the filter covered in oil and ive never had any problems with this setup

The oil was coming from the rocker cap filter Wolf.

That pipe does go into the catch can then clean air comes out into the Airbox inlet pipe.

Hopefully the filter will keep clean and also the turbo should on receive clean air and not old oil as well.

This will help it run cleaner and better.

I know, so was mine. 200s have a cyclone breather on the side of the rocker cover, this seperates oil and air and has hose that goes to the air filter. Mine goes via an oil catch tank then into the air filter. Exactly the same principle, means that only clean air is being put into the filter and no oil

Clear Braided PVC Hose 6mm - 25mm Air, Oil, Water & Fuel | eBay

Only jubilee at can ends as others needed boiling water to make pipe very soft and fairey liquid to get on, so figured that would be tight enough.

How do you find it with no viscous fan?

Do you use an electric fan and is it on a thermo switch or manual?

When that pic was taken it had twin Kenlowes mounted on the back of the rad.With a thermo probe in the radiator finning, and a manual override, which I had wired onto a heated rear window switch, a my hard top does not have a heated window.
The Kenlowes proved to be a pain in the arse, the controller didn't like water, and got erratic over time, so I removed them, and refitted the viscous fan and cowl.
Goes to show the wisdom of the old saying, if it aint broke, don't fix it, The cooling was fine before I fitted the bloody things

Just checked the oils catch can and cleaned the pipes.

It was a sludge in the pipes and at the inlet & outlet to catch can.

No oil in bottom of it though.

Air filter much much better, no oil at all, just general dust and muck.

Pleased with that.

Did oil, + filters (fuel, oil, air) change, topped axles oils and clean out axle breather pipes. Rear blocked.

Topped up swivel housing with one shot grease.

A steady mornings effort, very enjoyable and son/main driver thinks it's running better already.

So long as there isn't oil going on the filter element, you will be fine.
Worth setting the tappets, if you haven't already.

Hi Stag - would you mind telling me what part nos (if any) these silicone hoses are on your motor from the air filter top into the turbo? Mines are in need of replacement and that looks like a good setup and easy to maintain.

Is that a 60mm to 51mm silicone reducer - squinting to see the numbers. And the big elbow on the top of the air filter is that simply a 60mm elbow?

He hasn't been online since 2nd of June, maybe he will be back shortly.

Those hoses wouldn't have a landrover part no, they aren't a lr part. They may be preformed hoses, but I don't know where he got them, if he comes back he will tell you.
It is possible to get silicone hoses made to order, google it or try local injection specialist or car tuning place

Thanks turboman. I guessed they'd not be LR part nos, but wondered whether there was some ID from the supplier. They carry so much stuff its often easier to get a steer form someone whos been down the road already!

No worries, always try and help fellow 19j owners, we are a bit of an endangered species!

Sure stag will be back in a bit, but the hoses are pretty widely available, there is a big rack of them up my local fuel injection place!
