Guys

The 300tdi M reg has died as I stated in a previous thread. MOT due in Jan.

Local weigh in place is offering 160 a tonne so that will fetch about 350.

I'd sooner not do that as I'd sooner the parts live on.

So does anyone have any idea what a 'breaking' will fetch?

Problems are ...

Crankshaft pulley keyway/pulley damaged

Sills need welding

Nearside front strut needs replacing

All other parts are good

4 x matching road tyres on modulars with about 5mm tread

Injector pump just been reshafted and sealed so no leaks at all

No sunroof model

Starter motor refurbished 12 months ago

Any ideas as I need to decide whether to advertise as breaking or drive it to weigh in place?

I would check with your local scrap merchants. Mine were offering £160 a tonne a few months ago but when I took an Omega shell in on the 23rd December scrap had dropped to £105 a tonne, it ruined my beer fund :D

Defo 160 a tonne

Another place just offered 300 quid if I take it to them and they will give me the wheels/tyres back. Same place said that if I keep it at home and sell parts off it first then they will come and high lift what's left. They said as long as the block and chassis are still there they'll give me 220 collected.

At 105 a tonne on 23rd Dec it sounds like you just sponsored their beer fund.:D

Someone must have broke a Disco before chaps?

Must be a rough idea as to what you can get in parts?

have you thought of just advertising it on ebay sell a wheel nut and say aLl other parts AVAILABLE..

Cheers fella

That's what I'll do.

All I wanted was to see if I'd make more than the 360 the local scrappers was offering. I'd sooner parts get used by other LR owners.

Sell the hole thing for scrap. The engine and gearbox alone would make more than the £350 . Then there is the transfer box, a compleat interior, axels, ansils of the block etc etc last time I broke one up all that was left was the empty body and chassy that I cut up my self and sold for scrap In all I made about £2500 for all the parts
