Hello everyone,

My name is Nina, I'm 29 and currently living in the Peak District, UK.

I have just purchased a 2006 Freelander 1. It's a 3-door Freestyle Hardtop, black with 71,500 miles on the clock. Owned it just 2 days so far, but thanks to our Easter Bank Holiday here in the UK, I was fortunate enough to be able to give it a good test today. 300 miles later and I'm still smiling. :)

Reason I bought a Freelander? Well we needed a second car in the house. Before this purchase, our Toyota Aygo 3-door was our sole vehicle, which in all fairness, is more than a little cramped when we go camping, and not particularly suitable for our Siberian Husky, poor little soul!

We used to have a larger vehicle, but needed to downsize after I got made redundant. However we're now in a fortunate position to be able to own a second car, and my first choice was a Land Rover. I know it's not the same, but I used to own a classic Mini, and absolutely adore a "less refined" car. As a result of that, it's my ultimate dream to own a Defender 90 Hardtop - but I'm picky and the ones I want are unfortunately out of my price range...!

I'll say it now, but I'm afraid off-roading isn't my hobby, but please don't judge me for wanting a Defender, I know they strive for the off-road life!

My main hobby are motorbikes. I ride them in all weather, apart from snow (on the road) and ice, and clock up more miles on my bike than the Aygo. I won't lie, I'm so glad to now own a second car as it'll make my long-distance work commutes and visits to family far easier, and I'll need to plan less when winter is here. I'm not the only one happy with this purchase - my Husky is a big fan of having his own boot and electric window!

Anyway, I'm an active member on some bike forums (Yamaha, Triumph Tiger & Triumph Street Triple), so I'm looking forward to participating where I can on this forum.

Thanks of having me, and I apologise in advance for any silly questions! :D

Is it Diesel?

I hope its a diesel.
As you're not taking it off-road, consider removing the propshaft to increase the life of the transmission.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yes, I'm already in love! Always wanted a Land Rover so I'm incredibly happy right now.

And Vince, sorry, my error in not mentioning, yes it's the diesel variant. Thanks for the information about the propshaft, I'll look into that.

Good good, the petrol engines are unreliable.

Personally don't remove the rear prop, read up on Viscous Coupling Unit and correct tyre sizing to avoid transmission problems.
