had a similar problem....except mine sometimes clicked on pulling up to standstill going forwards aswell as backwards. ALSo the ABS light sometimes stayed on after starting and driving off....
Possible remedies are::: (simplest first)
-clean and make sure abs sensors are seated in their mounts (all four wheels)
(when you put sensor in after cleaned (front only), push it right in, then turn steering lock to lock then drive forwards, the sensor will then have been knocked by the excitor ring so that the air gap is the correct distance between them)
-Check wheel bearings, tighten to correct amount or replace if knackered
(this was the problem mine had, worn front wheel bearing, which causes the excitor ring to be out of line just enough to sometimes cause the abs to operate (it thought the wheel had stopped so clicked on the abs) or the light to register a fault)
Somewhere on the internet there is a diy fault finder for disco abs systems. you have to use a paperclip to short out two terminals on the abs diagnosics plug then the abs light flashes out a code. something like that anyway, have a look around, otherwise take it to money eating landrover garage so they can hook it up to testbook or what ever its called.
(i know how annoying it is, especially trying to parallel park on a steep hill)
good luck with it let us know how you get on
