Weeeeeeeeell: Are yours top & bottom or on the sides? What model is yer III? Is there anything else that gives you the idea that yur brakes came off of something else other than wot you've got? Give us a decent amount of info & someone might have an answer for you..........................or just keep posting short, unhelpful questions and grumping.

the shoes are fitted with the cylinders inbetween them. oh fook it this is just too silly a question

ah might be wrong here but am ah feeling that you am the one that don't know.
am a mite disconbobulated here. shirley if its your landy then you must have taken them off.. and if yer did you should know how they go on. if yer dint take them off then the position of the cylinders should give yer a clue. if yer int got cylinders fitted then the holes fer the cylinder might give it away if yer int got back plates fitted then yer need to get hold of a book cause if yer dont know what way brakes go on yer in fer a reet old **** load of heartache as yer try to piece it together.

hope this helps

Hi Batty 200

There are three posible types of front brakes

Pre 1980 swb

post 1980 swb wich are the same as series3 lwb 4 cylinder

6 cylinder and stage 1 v8

They can all be fitted to your lr if you only have 1 cylinder on the front they are normal swb shoes that fit front and rear (different size wheel cylinders front to back)

If you have 2 cylinders fitted 1 at the top 1 at the bottom and the cylinders have square cut slot in the piston these are post 1980 or 4 cylinder series3 LWB

if you have 2 cylinders fitted 1 at the front 1 at the back and the cylinders have a curved type slot in the piston these are 6 cylinder or stage 1 V8

The later two types are for 11" drums but the stage 1 V8 and 6 cylinder are wider shoes

Hope this answer helps (from the answers you have had from some members they clearly don,t know what they are talking about and should not bother with sarky comments)

wtf would you know? you clearly lack the ability to read, inwardly disgest, understand the question and then come out with an answer that suits the question.

he asked if the shoes fitted side to side or top to bottom, not what brakes might be fitted to my vehicle.

so you are the one that has little understanding of the concept of answering questions with a valid answer. and should refrain from answering questions with answers that are clearly for an entirely different question

I,m sorry but i thought the question was

"I have a series 3 with what i think are lwb 2.6 front brakes"

So i thought by listing the different types would be helpfull un like the answers from slob who should join a suzuki forum as he clearly has no info on Landrovers

Landrovergod

oh yeah listed different brakes will tell him how his shoes should be fitted..

why do you use the wurd "clearly" as you clearly have no idea what its meaning is?

what do you do if you see a landrovergod running at you with half a face?

....
stop laughing and re-load

What’s more fun than spinning a landrovergod round on a clothesline at 100mph?

....
.
.
Stopping him with a spade!!!

Many thanks for all the replys, I brought the landy only a few months ago and have been off roading it with a load of nutters! I just started having problems, im having to double pump the brakes to get pressure, so after going to get new shoes, started to fit them to find out there not the same size, so looked on paddocks and in a few books and i think they many be from a early v8 lwb or a 6 cyd, anyway have today found the right shoes but still not sure if they go on the top and bottom or side to side, only ask this because every series ive seen they go side to side,!

Please no ****ty replys im sorry i dont know it all like some of you!
