Had a little scare yesterday, pulled in to a car park and while maneuvering in to a bay the brake peddle when rock hard pushing the peddle hard enough did stop the car, when I went back to the car I had a look round couldn't see anything out of place started the car and the brake peddle was as normal took it easy going home but when I started to maneuver to park outside my house the same thing happen. Feels like the servo has packed up but when left standing all is OK again.

Any ideas?

Right check the following, brake shoes/pads are not contaminated, check the vacuum hose is not damaged.

With the engine off give the brake pedal a few pumps, then keeping the pedal down turn on the engine, there should be a noticible give in the pedal.

If not, check the valve, (front of servo unit) take it off, it should only blow through one way, from the servo side, if not replace valve.

Then I think your looking at a servo unit fault...
