I am the proud owner of a 90 Defender which has recently had it's front brakes overhauled. However when I have come to bleed the system I have noticed a small jet of brake fluid is apparent inside the resevoir when the pedal is pressed, indicating that the the rear master cylinder seal may have perished. Does anyone have experience of this and suggest whether I should replace the M/Cylinder with a new one or to buy a new set of seals.

Many thanks in advance

do a search, but if i remember correctly most people dont get on well with seal replacement and for the price, it may be better to replace the whole unit...

someone in the know will be along shortly.

if the seal is knackered then the bore/piston could be scored - it depends whether yu dont mind doin the job twice - or just wanna do it the once and be sure.
