Have a brake light issue on my defender 90 td5
Brake lights work fine until truck is started then blows fuse as soon as it begins to start and if fuse is changed with engine running it arcs.

Where is the brake light switch ?
Inside the cab or in the engine compartment at the back of the brake pedal box ?

What happens if you disconnect it ?
What happens when you join the two wires together ?

Brake light switch will be in the back of the pedal box will disconnect. Then join wires and see the difference

Disconnected the brake lights won't/shouldn't come on when you press the pedal.
If when you join the wires together the brake lights come on and the fuse doesn't blow, it's likely to be the switch.
If the fuse does blow you have a short on one of the switch wires...
