We're off to Botswana mid may for 3 weeks. Hiring a Toyota Landcruiser with the full overloading set up. We're picking it up in Kasane and then on our own for 8 days travelling through Chobe and Okavango/moremi. Would love to hear anyones experiences (good or bad), advice on routes to take, tips etc. I've got the tracks4africa map, which seems to be the gold standard map for this area. Will be using my Garmin GPS 64s. Loosely I've planned the route shown in the picture. Starting in Kasane, then Ihaha, Savuti, Xakanaxa, Linyanti, Kasane.

Would be really interested in peoples experiences of the tracks this time of year, especially as the route planned involves some small river crossings and this is still quite close to the rainy season. Also love to hear any not to miss places!

Bit about me - I normally drive an old land rover, have done some off road courses in the past in the UK, have a reasonable idea but don't do it very often tbh. Never driven on sand or arid conditions because, well, I live in the north of Scotland. Very comfortable driving a 4x4 using hi-lo, centre diff lock etc. I've rebuild the landy nut and bolt so a pretty good DIY mechanic. Fairly handy with the spanners and can bodge fix most things that are bodge fixable.

Anyhow - love to hear you're thoughts

Can't really comment from experience as I've never been. But it looks fascinating. Hope you post lots of pictures.

Looks reasonable..

1000 R = 51 quid...

If I worked that out correctly. Could be £200 a day in summer peak or £71 off peak.

I'll post a trip summary and photos when we're back. Assuming we don't get eaten buy lions
Can I ask how your trip went? We're thinking of doing something similar next May.

Were Bushlore OK to work with and was May a good month to go?

Thanks.

Amazing mate, honestly. Bushlore were great, you could probably find a cheaper outfit but you get what you pay for in my opinion. PM me if you have any specific questions.
