Hi, I have a V6 model here in California and most the U.S. spec cars have a subwoofer in place of the storage area in the boot floor.

However, as guaranteed by any Land Rover parts the subwoofer went dead a few months ago and I've been considering converting the subwoofer back to the locking cubby box. I have been checking out some of the covers from scrap Freelanders in here but I want to know if the lock on the cover can only be unlocked by the keys that came originally with the car or can it be unlocked by any Freelander keys?

Has any one tried to unlock someone else's boot storage box with the keys from a different Freelander?

yes you are correct in thinking that the boot cubby box will only open with the key that was supplied with the car however you could get a second hand one with a key and fit this it is only a matter of a few screws hope this helps

It's an HSE - so no room for any valuables or goodies storage - it's full of useless Heckler & Koch (or is it Karman & Hardon) woofer stuff.

Ah dint know that :) sounds posh

Is the H&K stuff for when the going gets really tough:eek:

I have the lock and the key works it,
but the underside of the lid has no mechanism on it,
Looks like it has either broken and then been
completely removed, or was never attached..

Any pics out there of what the underside of the lid looks like???
preferably with a fully functioning lock..

as promissed;
