hi, new to these forums, got a slight problem with the disco, got in it today went to open the boot and she just wont open the little latch thing goes up when the keys turned but it just wont budge tried opening it from the inside and still nothing any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

From Outside the car, use the key to open (i.e. pop the little latch thing fully up).
Keep the key turned and keep the little latch thing fully up.
Use other hand to open the door.
This might work, it did for me on my Driver's Door.
Reason could be as follows:- There is a little plastic cam thing attached to the lock barrel. Its job is to push the rod down and the rod flicks the door lock open.
The plastic cam thing can actually snap after time or too much turn of the key the wrong way.
If that is your problem, you can get a new lock barrel + cam from a spares supplier for maybe £50 or you could go to a scrapyard and get a doorlock barrel and handle stuff for about £10. Unfortunately you would probably throw the scrapyard barrel away 'cos you only want the plastic cam thing and you won't get a key to fit the barrel (easily).

Try this as well.
Prise the landrover badge off the rear door handle and spray the metal handle with a lot of WD40 and keep trying it , you may be lucky.

Make sure the boot handle is working correctly. if it dosn't come right DOWN then it won't allow the latch to open. The pivot for the handle can partially seize .Spray the pivots with wd40 and keep flicking the handle also try prizing the handle down fully. My disco does this about every few month and the wife complains she can't get into the back.
I cut a slot under the back door handle under the plastic housing. Hard to explain, but I can now get my thumb into the new slot and push the door latch towards the door which then enables the lock to reset, and probably to work again.
I take the badge off regularly and spray the springs and things with WD-40 or GT85 from Machine Mart.
One day I will strip the door and do the job properly. Second thoughts - no I won't.

Best way in is already mentioned is to pop the badge out and spray with WD40 works everytime.

from recent personal exoperience.. wd40 will get you in the boot but you will have to do it very often.. grease wont get you in but once you arein will significantly increase the time before you next need wd40... in fact since I greased it I haven't needed to take the badge off whereas I'd given up putting it back on when I was just using wd40
