Hi all,
Today I took my defender to wilco to have my tyres switched from my steel wheels, and put on some boost alloys, and then fitted back to the car. It appears they are to tight on the hub. The chap said they may have gone on if he forced them, but he wasn't prepared to damage my car and wheels. I thought as my defender is rear disk brake everything would fit. Is there an exception to this rule ?

We have boosts on our 1991 110 Defender.....it has rear drum brakes, never had an issue in fitment....

If I get the time, I might lift her up and whip the wheels off and have a look....I know we dont have the rear centre caps fitted as the rear drive flange rubber cup is in the way.

I have boost alloys on my defender td5 year 2k. I have also fitted the original LR Freestyle without any problems

Are your wheels 16" ?

Sorted the problem, it was due to several coats of paint, and a bit of corrosion on the hub. When I had a closer look I realised the alloys use the hub for location. But the steel wheels use the cone seat of the wheel nuts for location.

I also decided to check the load rating for my Salisbury axle. For uk and Europe its 1980kg (1850kg rest of world). My boosts are marked 990kg which for both rear wheels is bang on limit.
I have a deep dish alloy and its marked 850kg, which for both wheels is 1700kg. So not rated for full rear axle load ! Just thought I would mention this as a lot of people say the deep dish alloy is rated for a 110 csw
