Hi all

I am currently attempting to slowly resurrect a 90 and want to take all the panels of the tub apart in order to beat them back to shape, sandblast them down and repaint them before putting it all back together. Only problem I have is dealing with the spot welds. If I drill them out, I believe I can replace them with countersunk head rivets, and, if so looking at the welds I will need a 6mm drill bit to remove them. will it be safe if I replace them with 4.8mm diameter rivets as I cannot seem to find suitable ones bigger then this? If not can someone point me in the right direction of a way of putting it all back together.

Alternatively if there is a better method then please enlighten me!

Many thanks!

use a spot weld drill bit, it has a flat face with tiny point and allows you to carefully drill through a single side of the 2 panels releasing the spot weld but leaving the 2nd panel intact, then reassembly can be plug welded back together.
