i'm looking at doing a suspension lift and a 4" body lift to my tdi 300 disco, if i done a 4" lift what would i need to do other than the 4" spacers? any info would be great thanks.
Id recommend a body lift although ive only done a 2inch lift.
Things other than the 10 body mount spacers you need to consider are:
Extended brake lines
Radiator spacers
Extended tranfer lever as mine is too short even with only a 2 inch lift so with a 4 inch possibly gear stick extention too
Also seat belt anchors will need to be extended
Your steering column wont be long enough for a 4 inch body lift mine is only just long enough
You may need to think about fuel lines not being long enough especially to the fuel filter on the bulkhead
Boot floor supports rest on the chassis so they would need sorting too.
Also your bumpers need to be lifted to otherwise theres a large gap.
I think that's about everything :whoosh:
In all honesty, given all that sill hassle, why lift the body?
Surely a suspension lift is far easier,
Yes you will need to extend the brake lines as well as:
Longer Springs
Longer Shocks
Not sure, but possibly a slightly longer Steering Drop Arm
For 2" you can usually get away without altering the diff nose angles and using the existing prop shafts, though you can of course get new props to cope with the slightly changed angle
Then if you wamt to stand taller just look at larger tyres and modifying the wheel arches to suit
done that on mine but its on 37s2" suspension and 2" body. Set of arches. And 38 inch Tyres. Best way IMO. Sits high. And cheapest way of getting it up as correction arms and props etc aren't essential altho still recommended. And the body lift is noticeable without needing to spend a fortune on to many extra parts. Altho brake lines tfrbox lever extension rad pins and seatbelt anchors are a must. The rest of the mods are free on a body lift
done that on mine but its on 37s
