me 200tdi disco has developed a intermittent squeak
first off it sounded like alternator bearing... i took the drive belt off , drive end bearing feels a bit rough so i ferreted about in the shed and found another that looks like it will fit on.... only problem is its pulley is bigger.... think theres enough adjustment to get it on but then me rev counter will read wrong cos of the bigger pulley... so decided to swap the pulleys.... funny thing is its a different shaft size.... so had to disturb the moths and buy another alternator..... cos both belts looked a bit past it i shelled out for new belts aswell..... steering and water pumps both feel fine.... put it all back together
no squeek for about 3 miles then its back again
though this squeak sounds engine related it never happens when stationary and usually goes away if i lift off the accelerator....so i crawls underneath today .... the back uj on the front prop is about to fall apart... so took the prop off ... guess id better stick the diff lock on and go for a drive to see if me squeak comes back... bloody heap dont move ... looks like the diff lock has decided to stop working aswell..... twas ok xmas before last when a cv joint went a mile down the road.
guess im stuck using the fourtrak till i get the prop done or find time to poke at the diff lock
