Was out off roading today. Hasn't rained here for a while so not a huge amount of mud. However, I noticed that when I took my foot off the gas ie decelerating and when pointing downhill (possibly coincidence) there was a pile of smoke coming out the back. What does this mean please?

is the pipe to inlet from cooler very wet , try doing the same thing with that pipe removed, if that makes no difference have a look at valve stem seals and guides

Sorry James I'm a mechanical numpty. Can you just give me a bit more detail on your comment " is the pipe to inlet from cooler very wet , try doing the same thing with that pipe removed"

if its very wet it would indicate perhaps too ,much oil passing through turbo, driving the same course with it off would prove the point
