Afternoon All, i am new here as just brought a 1997 freelander 1.8 and its my first. i have just found that when i want to change the direction or the air blowing in the car it will move a little but i can`t get it to blow on the windscreen. the knob just clicks like it has slipped but feels like it is trying. is it esy to get to as i think something is stuck and just needs freeing up. would be happy if it just got stuck on the windscreen!!

thanks

Martin

It's a common fault in the earlier models.
The actuator wire is too short and sometimes jams.
There is a retrofit version, in fact I have one - I never fitted it because it's a pain.

thanks for reply. how easy is it to remove the centre dash or to be able to get to the back of the control knob?

thanks

martin

You need to remove the centre console first, then the dash.
Even after that It's tricky to get in to where the actuator wire is.
There's some info somewhere I'll see if I can find it...
