Went into 4th gear last night and the gearlever carried on towards me! Took 2 hands to get it out of fourth, made it home, can get all gears and she drives, but there is nothing to stop the lever from coming past the stop when you go into fourth.....

easy fix? any ideas????

whip yer trans cover orf and have a look? it sounds like the little square stop thingy is bust, which you will be able to see as soon as you get the cover orf.
i have to say it int something ave seen before

usually the stick just snaps

So its a possible repair/bodge until new engine arrives then?

This happened to me once and it was the bolts holding the gear stick yoke had dropped out.
Caus the last guy to take them out didn't believe in bending the lock tabs back.
Guess where the bits fell in to ? yep that's right they got stuck in all grease and jammed up the sliders, this makes changing gear difficult.

Anyway as Slobs says take the tunnel off and have a good look.

Twas as you said Clive..

The 2 front bolts and cover were missing, and the 2 larger bolts at the back were loose.

All sorted now, thanks.
