Picking my first disco up tomorrow night, gotta long train journey and a long drive back home from scotland to get it though.
Its a 200tdi,L reg, 134,000.
Paid 850 for it, it looks ok with a few bits of rust and a couple of bits of rot here and there but under arches all look good and underneath, drives well too, bit jumpy when you take the clutch up but i think may have been my driving(used to a sporty car not a landy)
Really looking forward to getting her home and tidying her up)
Anyone know where i can get hold of some landy stuff, looking for some nice big nobbly off road tyres, 'A' bar, roof bar for fog lamps, good spotlights etc
Give me a shout if you have anything to funk up my disco, cant wait to get her off the road once ive sorted her out.
Anyway, thats enough of my excited ramblings, hope someone can help with the gear i need.

There are a lot of people who know a lot more than me on here. I'm just finishing off prepping my Disco for offroading.
But I'd say, spend the money initially on the things you really need before going for the "look". However, the "look" is of course important too

If you want to go offroad a lot, I found the best approach was to take anything off before it gets ripped off. Like the lower valance on the front bumper and the rear bumper end caps.

First place I spent my cash (after making sure it was solid) was guarding up the car. You don't really need toHD bumpers and rocksliders to take a Disco off road, but I'd probably put a steering and diff guard on as a minimum as they're fairly inexpensive and can save a lot of cash if you hit something hard. Over time, I've done the bumpers and rocksliders. It does give a little more confidence off road and give you more jacking/recovery points.

Make sure you put recovery points on the car - Jate rings on the rear, loops on some steering guards or HD bumpers. Also get hold of some decent ropes and shackles.

There's probably lots of ways to skin this cat, and lots of ways to spend a LOT of money too. And not doubt someone will be along soon with a different approach
