Hello Gents

(sorry and Ladies)

I got two quotes to change the three blend motors (£600 and £640) so decided to do it myself, following the method recommended here Blend Motor Diagnosis and Replacement.

The one thing that concerns me is that I don't fancy removing the Instrument panel, but if I am reading the procedure correctly, you only need to do this to avoid "annihilation" of the rear face vent ducting? Or have I got this wrong? I would propose to cut this duct or do whatever is necessary to get it out of the way and worry about repairing it afterwards. Would this mean I won't have to remove the Instrument panel?

Any advice or tips gratefully received! Thanks chaps.

Make sure you have EKA code and it works with drivers door lock.

Remove dash surround and remove clocks, it sounds a worse job than it actually is. I've stripped and rebuilt the right hand side in about 2 hours.

you need to drill one hole and nothing needs cutting

Don't forget to get the blend motors recalibrated with Test Book/Autologic/Rovacom after you have fitted it/them.

Thanks, Fanatic.

Blimey, 2 hours, it takes me more than that thinking about it!

Why do I need to ensure EKA code works - is it because I (should) have disconnected battery? I know it often says disconnect the battery for a lot of jobs but I would prefer not to if possible on the basis of, if it works don't mess! But then I'm a bit of a pessimist(especially with our blessed P38). Cheers

mine took me about 4 ish hours over 2 afternoons, i didnt re calibrate and they work fine. Take battery off or u will get airbag fault!
