Hi all,
I have recently got myself a discovery 1 3.9 V8. I have noticed that when I start her up there is black 'stuff' coming out of the exhaust pipe. You can't see it come out but it is left scattered on the floor. It never used to do this when I first got the car.
I will really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks

Sounds like my ballasts cooking.:D:D:D

lol , they all run rich and every classic or disco1 I have ever seen has black stuff out the back on first start

check your plugs to see if it runs rich all the time

Mine don't, woop woop. In fact considering the amount of hammer mine gets, it's remarkable it doesmt smoke one bit.

Having said that, all the oil comes out underneath! :D

its not oil were on about noisy, its coke :D

thort ur plugs were furry black :p

They're furry black fo' sho' but it never smokes. All the extra fuel sticks to the spark plugs :D

Theyre not oily black either way, and after a good run I reckon theres a tinge of chocolate hobnob showing through on the tips! :)

Saw the title n thought " black suit n tie event for Classic owners" ...then thought " Get Real"

Black soot out the exhaust....Would give the car new quality oil and filters (including air filter) and fresh spark plugs.... then see if it's any better after a service;)
