Evening guys,

Picked up a D1 with a 300 lump,

Clock has in indicated 230k but the original 300 lump was replaced a while ago so I'm told,

On rev'ing up and occasionally just while pottering about, she gives off noticeable amounts of black smoke,

Its got a straight though exhaust with only a box close to the end,

Unsure if EGR blanked or if fuel has been tweeked in anyway,

Got a service booked this week so hoping that will clear any problems as well "

Service hasnt cleared up the smoke,

Appears whenever the engine is under load and is particularly bad when going up hill for any period of time,

Would injectors or fuel pump be a good place to look at next ???

next time you fill it up throw a couple of litres of petrol in there, that'll clean the injectors

How do I check turbo hose's ?

Engines got plenty of get up and go,

Also put that optimax diesel that shell sells, got a tank of the stuff to get through before I see a noticeable difference I guess

After going green laning with Pikey and BB,

Turns out my fuel pumps has been messed with,

Anyone know what the setting should be ?

Or is it kinda hit and miss ?

not lack of air then ,theres 2 ways of increasing fuel ,max adjuster screw which should have anti tamper shield and effects all fueling whether turbos boosting or not ,and boost compensator which invovles removing top of boost diaphragm and turning diaphragm as pin under it is cam shaped ,you can usually see original mark of were it contacts

Just had a look, the previous owner didnt mark the original positions of anything

Could be there a while today :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Dialed the main screw back about 15% cleared most of the black smoke up, gotta fine tune it now I guess !
