Iv been thinking about replacing the springs on my 03 defender 90 as I noticed it's sitting lower than a newer none raised 90 I parked next to the other day,
Everyone knows the britpart yellow h/d springs right?
What's the crack with the standard and h/d black ones paddocks sell for about £14 a corner?
I'm not after lifting it but maybe fitting h/d one cos I had them on my disco,
And I get as many people and dogs in when I'm shooting as will fit.
To travel across fields
Will they be too harsh/stiff on a 90?
Failing that can anyone recommend springs that wont break the bank.
I guess this might have been covered before but iv searched and I can't find anything conclusive.
Please help

Mate not the full answer your looking for but,

Back in Jan I fitted Britpart front springs on my 110 csw. Only paid 22 quid a corner for them. At the same time I fitted Allmakes rear springs 40 quid a corner....

MOT last week and the front springs from Britpart have compressed quite some distance, to the point you can dislocate them on pot holes or even parking on the curb!

So ordered and bought Genuine Landrover springs 60 quid a corner for the front...........buy cheap buy twice! An if your paying labour it all adds up!

but then its all about how much cash you have at the time!

I opted for standard height springs from MM4x4 as I didn't want it lifted and didn't want a harder ride as I mostly commute in it and have heard horror stories of lifting and stiffer rides. £15.24 for fronts and £16 for rear. I also changed shocks for terrafirma ones at £25 each. Quite happy with the results.

Yep that's what I'm thinking, hell of a price difference though, £15 or £60......
Why can't someone come up with a reliable spring for £25-£30?
So are the all makes ones any different of britpart too?
Cheers for the reply mate, but I'm still non the wiser
:D

How long have they been on for mate?
I'm seriously doubting going with cheap springs now.

My allmakes are doing well, no dramas on the back axle and I usually have to German shepherds and my tool box in there.....once they go i'll replace with genuine...but gea them a go better than britpart

I have to be honest and say that I've never had any problems with the Paddocks black H/D springs. Yes you here quite a few horror stories, but personally speaking no issues at all on any of my landies.

If you're fitting them yourself (not a difficult job) you can afford to at least give them ago. :)

Have you fitted them to a 90?
If so what's the ride like?
Iv noticed they are handed which is a promising sign!
I would be swapping them myself so maybe I'll give them a go.
Cheers for the help gents

To be fair they have only been on a couple of months and the only time it's got any weight in is when I go fetching wood for the log burner but I do regularly green lane it. If they turn out not to last to long then I'll upgrade them later, it doesn't take to long to swap them over...

At the time I was prepping it for it's MOT and the springs were just part of a long list of stuff that I needed to buy. You pays your money and take your choice.
