The handbrake cable on my lad's 2001 110 TD5 Defender handed it's notice in with a massive bang yesterday, I've ordered a new cable and decided while we're under it new shoes and springs etc might as well be fitted so ordered those as well (I do have to say the lady on the phone from Paddocks was damn rude). I'm pretty sure I've got it right what I need to do but any pointers would be welcome. The main bit of advice I'm after is - is there a specific torque for the prop nuts/bolts and should I be replacing them for any safety reasons?

its easier if you undo the 4 x15mm headed bolts and remove back pl;ate and change shoes etc on the bench, as long as nuts are reasonably tight thats enough, apart from head bolt, moving internal engine parts etc, exact torques for most isnt vital
