Does anyone know if a series III 2.25 diesel can run on Bio-Diesel (not Veg Oil) , could the diesel corrode the rubber components of the fuel system.
I know on newer diesels this is not a problem but not sure about an old Landrover Engine.

Hiya Crossa

Would say go a little careful
If its a ser III then latest it can only be from 1984/85 in theory your fuel hoses & seals could be originals
why not play safe and renew your fuel lines and for that matter if you can any seals in you pump

I have found my 300tdi runs problem free on Pump Bio & my p38 RR too just changed the filters after a few 000 Km`s to make sure

Why bother?

Tip the BioD in your tank and save money NOW.

Keep SOME derv in the mix to help starting, but every gallon of BioD you shove in the tank is cash saved, less pollution, and all good for extra power too.

BioD will do no harm.

Thanks for the advice, when I take the thing apart I will replace any fuel lines that look suspect then use Bio diesel.

Way to go. Good plan.

Have a little derv in the mix some of the time.

Make sure the BioD is clean, and ALWAYS carry a couple of new fuel filters.

Enjoy. There are no downsides that matter.

There's another forum with an alternative fuels section in which this subject is covered in great detail. My Transit 2.5DI engined cab runs well on 50% mix of bio and diesel and have had no pump or fuel line problems over the 18 months of it being used.

Thanks for all the advice.

What to run it on is not a problem at the minute as it 's refusing to start, I'm not going to spend to much time trying sorting that out, for now as I have lots of body/chassis bits to repair first.
