Hi All,
I'm looking to replace the hinges on my TD5; the old ones are corroded and looking a bit naff. I'm thinking a nice set of black billet aluminium ones. The two I'm looking at are Optimill, which are plastic coated, or Exmoor, hard anodised. Does anyone have any experience with the corrosion resistance of these? I only want to replace them once.

Exmore at that cost ... i'd think at least twice ... surely you can whip yours off and get them cleaned up and recoated (anodised as per @tottot ) ?
YRM do a stainless steel set LRParts YRM hinge SS
The Optimill ones are just ludicrous ...

I just looked at them and my wallet has clamped shut and run off😲.

The Hard Anodised would last better than plastic coat I am sure, But;).

I would spend a weekend every few years with a rattle can if I was that bothered and still be quids in:). There are a few more things that need attention on ours before the hinges get attention.

They do look nice though:).

Where did you get the idea that Optimill hinges are plastic coated?
Had them for years and mine aren't, just looked at the website and it makes no mention (that I can see) of them being coated.

I looked at all of these when replacing my hinges and quickly opted for the YRM st/st units. They're very good. Price apart, I wanted hinges that were not going to rust/powder oxidise. I buzzed mine back/keyed, primed and painted...job done. The other advantage with YRM is that they come complete as a kit. And...they're reassuringly heavy.
