It has been a lot of years since I was in the motor trade but I have found myself visiting this site frequently, as a guest, to see how others have managed to restore their discovery 300 tdi's. I have found the information invaluable and decided to join up. I served my time as a motor mechanic with a famous Scottish police force, before going self employed, up to the age of 30, when I then began another career. I hopefully can still spray and weld, its been a while!
At present my Discovery is up on stands, the floor is in excellent original condition, which apparently is unusual, but the wheel arches are now cut back to good metal awaiting fabricated patches and the new arches. The front inner wings are in the process of being renovated and I have ordered panels from YRM. I decided to go the whole way and replace the front headlight and upright chassis/body mount sections as well.
I have never sprayed the new base coat/lacquer so its going to be repainted satin black with cellulose after a coat of isolator.
I cant warrant buying lamps to bake the new style paint and I have always avoided 2k so although I like the original colour of Rioja red ...satin black it is!
I have obviously joined here to gain further knowledge but if I can be of help to fellow land rover lovers please do not hesitate to make contact!

Welcome along Sir.

I've recently sprayed my S3 black too. Didn't exactly go all that well. [emoji33]. Nothing a few hours of sanding out the runs can't fix. Good luck with yours I'm sure you'll be much better than me.

Good bunch here and lots of wisdom.
