Hi all
Well been a hectic few weeks and would like to post this as a big thanks to all the peeps that have given advice, and to say what has happened.
After deciding the cause of the coolant being pressurised was the head gasket i booked it into a local Land rover garage for the work to be done thinking that it was all down hill from now, Nope, after the head was off it was clear that the original plastic dowels had disintegrated and allowed the head to "creep", allowing gas's to escape, so the head was sent to a local machine shop for pressure testing and a skim.
Then all was delayed by a few days as we had some violent storms and the machine shop was hit by lightening and had a hole blown in the roof, this in turn let in water onto there milling machine and put it out of action.
A few days later roof fixed, milling machine back in action all set to go again, then i get a call from garage to go and see them ??, get there to be told the good news was the head had passed pressure test o.k BUT when it was on the milling machine the machine threw a fit and slammed down onto the head gouging it to over 3mm and taking out one exhaust and one inlet valve at the same time .
After a lot of toing and froing between the garage and the machine shop the machine shop offered to source a second had head and pressure test and skim it and i should be back on the road in a week or so.
I politely suggested that they find a place where the sun don't shine and place it there (sideways) and come up with a better idea.
After two days the garage got fed up being given the run round by the machine shop and took matters into there own hands, one quick phone call to Turners engineering and a brand new AMC head was on its way to me, with the bill being sent to the engineering shop by the garage.
24 Hours later got call from garage that it was all back together and running sweet , but it didn't stop there,
while i was at it i got a set of Wurth longer studs and nuts and spent several happy hours with grinders and a power file de-webbing the exhaust manifold and taking photos to post on here.
Then to cap it all my laptop decided to come out in sympathy with the milling machine and had to be rebuilt which meant i lost all my photos, programs, saved files, favourites etc.
All the best
Bill .
