Got a ticket for stopping on a red route in London. The sign said I was allowed 20 mins for unloading (I was in my van). I was parked for approx 2 mins. In reply to my appeal TFL have stated I was observed for 5 mins not unloading, bull****. All this from a camera being manually operated from about 1/4 mile away:confused:
It was 7 in the morning heading out of London. If I lose this appeal the fine goes up to £180.
£180 for stopping 2 minutes on a deserted street:eek:
TFL's web site states they do not hand out parking fines as a way of raising income 'bollocks'
Sorry for my rant and probably not the right forum, but just had to vent my frustration.
 
I think Red Ken brought them in. The idea was to aid the buses getting through by not letting anyone stop, so all the school children and retired folk could get through quickly, whilst all thoughs contributing to the economy could sit in big traffic jams!

Then they realised none of the shops and offices could get any deliveries, so loading sections are dotted around at various places.
 
What's a traffic jam?

Is that the funny thing that the emmets do on a saturday in the summer? - sit in a long line of stationary vehicles on the A30 and A38?
Can't see the attraction meself.
 
I think thats the problem, Trewy - all that long distance driving creates a static build up in the motors and they then become electrostatically charged and attract each other like lots of magnets.
 
What a complete load of bollo@s. What as soon as you get to the point of unloading you have to get out and start unloading!!!! what if you have to fill out some paperwork prior to unloading, this is frigging lunacy. Country has gone mad in fines for cars, speed cameras everywhere in unnecessary places, can't park here, can't park there, frigging emmissions clamp down. Why is it this country hates feckin cars!!! I would love to be the owner of Land Rover and basically state to the government, you know you can stick your feckin emmission laws where the sun doesn't shine and If I want to make a V8.V12 4,5,6 or 8 ltr engine then I will, and shove it and I am not doing anything about the emissions to reduce it. Lets face it and remember this global warming is not a proven theory!!!!

Started out as global warming, now it's climate change so the b@stards have an each way bet. Climate has always changed throughout history, they used to hold ice fairs on the Thames. 1690 to 1735 average temperatures rose by 3.5C, no cars to blame then. Seems to me it's no more than an excuse for yet more taxation!
 
Demand to see the footage - don't suppose your van has a Tacho that you can prove how long you were stationery for?
 
so you were in the process of unloading? Or did u just stop? I mean if u just stopped then u should be fined!
 
I can beat that one. I work for a coach company and one of our drivers pulled into a BUS STOP in Trafalgar Square for 2 mins to answer his phone and got fined £80!!
 
if its tfl theyll have footage on their website and they send stills with the fine.Got done in a box junction by em.65 quid, no points, no way of argueing.Fair cop.

According to the ( i think) 1649 bill of rights act (still law) " Any demand for money or forfeiture of goods without conviction is illegal and void". That means in law ALL fixed penalty fines are illegal. But try telling the government that.
 
NOt sure on the legal thing. But I can say that the motorist is the easiest person to TAX, FINE or otherwise claim money from. Most people that own a car pay road fund license (road TAX) this amounts to billions a year. This is to help pay for the national road system. So why do we have to pay at Dartford? To help pay for the road.
This also applies to the M4 into Wales. and the M6 at Brum.
As for the fixed and mobile Donut Fund Collectors (speed cameras) A lot were removed because they were hidden ( entrapment) Most police forces have a percentage of the takings to help pay their coffee shop bills.
Fines for stopping in red routes, using bus lanes etc are to persuade people not to use them, which creates traffic jams. Again this is to make people use public transport (which only works in large towns and cities. I live in the rural part of surrey. 1 bus every hour. and not to where you need to get too.)
So all in all, they make easy money from us car drivers.

i'm sure this one will have been done to death in the appeals courts, even so, the government makes the rules!!!

It has, the legal ruling is although it is still law, it is a law that is no longer enforced. But you do something they cannot touch you for and they will gredge a law up that is no longer enforced from way back before that to do you with. No longer enforced until they need it or it suits their purpose is what they mean. Ripoff Britain continues un-abated. George Orwell would be proud of our governments. Looks like they read his book and acted on it. Big Brother is Watching, YOU.
