My BFG AT tyres have clocked up 97000 miles and still going. No punctures. I'm not planning on replacing them yet as still plenty of tread. Can anyone top this? I wondered what the top mileage anyone's had out of a set of tyres. I would buy them again, but they would probably outlast my Disco which has done 230,000 miles.

Sadly BFG ATs and mud terrains are now manufactured with a softer compound to comply with some bull **** noise directive so they wear out more quickly than that of the older ones, I read somewhere that a Wrangler Jeep in the states had done about 130,000 on a set.

Cooper Discoverer SST seem to last into high mileages it would appear, searching the net.

I used to run BFG AT's on the old Disco. Out of three sets I got about 50k out of the first set, sold on for £200, but then used to change them at about 20k to 25k 'cos the edges were rounding off and losing grip off-road .. used to sell them at about £250 per set, so pretty cheap tyres when that was taken into account, they still had loads of tread on them, just rounded edges, so perfect for road use.

Ive just replaced my old General Grabber AT2s with a set of the new ATs. I had them on my Discovery so long I actually forgot how old they were I would say 60 - 70K miles, they were far from worn out, still had plenty of tread but the sidewalls were begining to show signs of cracks so changed to be on the safe side. I would have fitted BFGs in the first place but they dont seem to make them in 255/55/18s. If the new AT proves as durable as the old ones I'll be well pleased though.

so what do u reckon out of a set of bfg 265/75/16 mt,s

If you're mostly off-road then fine, if you're mostly on-road stick to AT's, the wear on MT's will be way higher, with less rubber on the tarmac they get worn away much quicker.

I run Extreme tyres now and haven't a clue what mileage they're on .. but I've had 'em a couple of years or so, two vehicles and lots of green-laning and off-roading .. I'll replace when they get poor off-road, but hopefully while they still look like decent tread so I get a reasonable price for them to offset new replacements.

I run A/T'S on a defender td5 present set have done 62000 mls with probably 8" and 6" left on them. 70% road 30% off road.
