We have just purchased our first LR, which is a Disco 2, 2004 auto. I would like to remove the EGR but I am concerned that this will be picked up when it is MOT'd. Therefore can you simply blank of the valve (exhaust pipe) at the EGR valve or simply unplug the vacuum pipe from the EGR valve and keep the valve in place?

Simply unplug the electrical connectors of the solenoids, then the valves will be closed... clean the EGR valve from gunk to have good air flow there and the MAP sensor then when you go to MOT connect the solenoids back untill you get out then unplug them again if you want to be very scrupulous

My brother's FL1 flew through the MOT a month ago with a delete pipe in place. My local independent know of no deleted Freelander which has failed since the new rules came in.

Mate of mine strapped a lead blanket over the top. Tester was fine with it, cant test what cant be seen! ;)

Thanks guys for all your replies. I will unplug first and see what the difference is. I need to sort out the oil in the plug on the ECU first.

Sierfery, Just one question. If I uplug the connectors will this bring up a fault? (also can you give me guidance on what connectors to uplug). Thanks, Dave.

It will log a EGR related fault code, which happens if the EGR is removed completely anyway unless the EGR is disabled in the fuel map too(which is not a DIY job), you have to unplug the two solenoids nr 23, 24
