hy i no its a silly question cheap but im fancying a d90 something that runs but needs work and not to many thousands £ where is the best place to look thanks ste

EBay, Gumtree or down the back of the sofa.... As I could do with cheering up how cheap are you looking at?

You should be so lucky, cheap is hard to come by now, unless you want a complete restoration on your hands.
Of course their are still bargains out their, but you've got to be patient, and fast when they do actually come up.
And as said, EBay, Gumtree and dare I say facebook groups.

thanks for replys ye around 3k ish i dont know much about them but when i look on ebay theres loads with well over 150k miles on and selling 6k up they must be good engines are they also what is the tax for a D90 i no depends on engine size but roughly thanks ste

Also take a look at LRO.com. Tax is around £230 only the newer ones vary in tax and 3 grand won't get you one, as said I hope you're good with spanners or you'll need another 3 grand to pay for garage bills:D

Without being funny if you know nowt about them then I respectfully suggest you stay away from them, however if you must then chuck 4K (min.) at something and pray!
Would a Freelander not be more suitable as a stepping stone?

Personally I would have go the Series route before going the freelander route because in a year it still would be worth a similar price to what you pay for it and you should be able to pick up a series 3 for about 3k ish

Tax for a Ninety is £230, got mine just the other day.

Ninety or Defender at that sort of money is likely to be pretty rough, and expensive to run and maintain.

Agree with the previous comments. Series would fit the bill better, still some deals to be had on s3.
Older series tax exempt, newer same as 90. Possibly cheap classic insurance?
Series are maybe a bit more rugged and rust less than def., and more likely to gain classic value if good.

i think your wrong when you say if i dont know stay away youll never do anything in life if you have that attitude , i know nothing about land rovers but i can rebuild and repair engines quite handy on spanners , thanks everyone for helping with info think ill keep an eye out for something like you say prob 4k would be more realistic and tax aint to bad someone told me it went to nearly 800 a year and is that correct anything older than 26yr its free tax

Lots and lots on Facebook. As usual there are good and bad and you need to know what you want and what to look for.
