My 1.8 k series head gasket has gone, suprise suprise! Mechanic has said he will replace the headgasket with one manufactured by payne, is that any good, or have landrover made a better replacement? Thanks for your advice.

there is an updated head gasket and stuff fer them injuns .. do a search and you should get about 500 freds on the subject

Not sure which threads, but go for the Land Rover gasket and stronger oil rail. Dont forget steel locating dowels and a new timing belt.

What age is your vehicle and where are you based??

Steve

Thanks G13SJC. Mine is a 1.8xi 99, done 41k. Im based in leicester. You nearby then?

I'm nearby.

I have rebuilt my engine after I bought it with a HGF.

I bought two new MLS head gaskets, 2 oil rails, 2 timing belts and two sets of steel dowels.

I was planning to keep the other set as spares, but 9,000 miles on I am prepared to sell if you are interested. I can also throw in some RTV sealent as well.

Regards,

Steve
