Hi All,

My starter motor is stuck on my 1985 2.5 N/A 110 and I'd like to try and fix this myself if possible. I am a complete beginner and would welcome any advice on best manual/CD, or whatever to follow instructions - I have the Haynes already but seems a bit vague, or is that me just not being mechanically-minded?

Also, what tools would be useful for a start? A lot of what I read here is extremely interesting but a bit intimidating as I've no experience. Electrical stuff seems very complicated. I would normally just put it in the garage but I intend to keep this landy forever so I think it makes sense to learn how to maintain it properly.

Any advice appreciated. Can you go on courses anywhere to learn this stuff?

As a noob, I've found the workshop manuals and parts references (all available online for free) to be very useful. Much more detailed than Haynes with nice exploded diagrams.

Electrically, the vehicle is about as simple as it gets. Could just be the solenoid that's stuck or a connection issue - hopefully someone with more experience can advise.

Where are you bud? Might be someone local to you willing to guide you through your learning curve! What are the symptoms making you think it's your starter?
