The best one to order is the right one for your vehicle. :D:D

now no one likes a smart arse, yes i have a td5 disco...

now whcih fecking brand is best coopers..fram... or some other one ...

Stay away from the cheaper rotor filters as they dont always fit well without a bit of fettling. Some of the bronze bearings are too tight or too tall so the rotor dont spin. Easy to sort but easily overlooked.

right shifty i need you mate... can you give me a step by step guide on changing the rotor filter, starting with opening the bonnet :D

0) Switch off the engine ;)

1) Open the bonnet.

2) Undo the two 10mm bolts that secure the cap of the rotor filter housing and remove the rotor cover.

3) Lift out the rotor filter unit. It will drip oil everywhere so be prepared.

If you have the means measure the length of the central rotor bearing on the old filter and make sure the new one is the same or a tad shorter. If not you you need to carefully take metal off the top face of the bronze bearing on the new filter. You can use fine emery paper on a sheet of mdf or glass to make sure everything is dead flat if you dont have a milling machine or surface grinder. You dont have to be too accurate but if the central bearing is too long the rotor wont spin when you tighten the lid down.

4) Make sure it is clean and drop the new rotor filter into housing over the central bearing pin. Make sure it spins freely by hand. If its tight you need to ream out the bronze bearing in the rotor filter. Dont overdo it or it will wobble.

5) Replace the large O ring on the filter housing cap. New one should come with the rotor filter.

6) Refit the rotor filter cap and tighten bolts to no more than 7ft/lb (recommended in RAVE). Be careful as its easy to strip the threads if you over do it. I tighten mine to 6 ft/lb and it never leaks. Literally just nip them up as its the O ring that does the sealing.

7) Start the engine and after a few minutes switch off. You should clearly hear the rotor slowing down for about 15 seconds or so. If not then the likely cause is a cheap rotor where the bronze bearing is too long or too tight. It wont loosen with use. For what they cost I use OEM rotors as I've had too many pattern ones that need adjusting and I cant be arsed to mess about.

fair play, thanks for taking the time to write that might be worth making a fred of it !

i shal try it as soon as my filters get here... which could be christmas :)
