I just fold the back seats and leave the lower hatch openCan someone confirm that a Berlingo roof rack fits a P38. I need to get some 3m lengths of wood home.
..
I tend to rent a trailer. £15 for a day stops the interior getting chewed up and no fannying around with van rental. One of the bennies of having a RR with a towbar
I've considered this approach myself, trouble is self-tow trailer hire outlets are few & far between around here. Was yours' local or a national outfit with regional outlets?
Local. I man band with various types from box trailers to tilt cat transporters to cage trailers. I've rented off him so many times he doesn't even bother taking a deposit now a few times I've fixed other renters damage to the trailers. He does competition off roading in landys too.
In a Berlingo??
I prefer my Bateson trailer for all the building stuff or the Transit.I have had loads of timber in my RR P38.
I am amazed at the load capacity of the Dash Assembly.
I usually Pop a dust-sheet on top of the dash and put the passenger seat as far FWD as it will go, and the backrest as far back as it will go.
Another sheet/protector over the seat/headrest and then stack the 4 x 2's or whatever in that space. The parcel shelf's load capacity is equally amazing.
Adjust the seat-back to then also bear some of the weight and its really surprising what it will tote.
Timber, plywood sheets, plasterboards you name it, I've toted it locally from the builder's Merchant's to my place or my son's.
2 garage conversions to "sheer-luxury" man-caves and the like.
Mind you...that was in the last Rangie.... this one, I am a bit "precious" about.
So do I. But sadly, I have no land or space for either of such luxuries.I prefer my Bateson trailer for all the building stuff or the Transit.
I can fit 3M lengths against the windscreen and shut the boot. I have an old towel I put over the screen end and comes in handy for the dog to curl up in.
My ladder is 3 1/2M so I stick it out the top tailgate with a red&white attached.
I’d love a roof rack
OE cost more than I payed for my entire RR, I could buy us both a set of new tree sliders for that price! You can fit roof bars. Thule do some that fit.

I have seen a roof rack on a P38 That had a rear ladder, may have been custom fabricated, I dont know how it fitted to the split tailgate
996turbo maybe? Someone like that. I don’t use rr.net so doubt I’ve seen it there, got everything I need right here ...
Except a custom safari roof rack
