have just spotted a potential problem with my engine.the alternator/waterpump belt is out of alignment as can be seen from the photos, the water pump pulley is dished, could it be that the pulley just needs reversing or is something else wrong?
btw,the engine is a v8 which was installed by a previous owner.

there's only one groove on the crank pulley,i dont know what that other groove is for but it's not for a v belt, the profile is wrong.

Nah yer get 2 & even 3 groove crank pullies. One groove is fer the PAS and I think the 3rd is fer if yer wanna fit AirCon. Maybe the crank pulley is on the wrong way round?

having had another good look i can only surmise that perhaps the bottom pulley has a spacer missing from behind it.the engine came out of a p5b rover if that makes any difference.
