Hi folks,
In a bit of bad form, I joined and posted a question over the weekend without introducing myself.... I'll put that right now.

LR history includes a brand new Disco in 1994 - ah, to have that disposable income again!; a 1984 RR Vogue - V8 and the three speed auto; another RR, Vogue-ish spec, fitted with a 200Tdi; and somewhere along the line, for a brief spell, an early 80's 90, with the 2.25 petrol.

"Recently" - well, for the last 14 years or so, it's been a 1994 Defender 110, with a 300Tdi. It's a "utility S/W" spec, which came with the airport fire brigade decals still on the front doors! I got it with about 65k on the clock, now heading for 217k. It's my daily drive and I can't really fault it, but then again it's well looked after and has had probably more than its fair share of replacements. That 'airport' I mentioned was near the sea, and at some point it became obvious that the car had been left there....!

So, the list would be endless, but it's had one galv chassis. (Never really been that happy with the quality of the chassis itself, and its now beginning to corrode, so heading for a second one in January) Galv. bulkhead - did that job myself, swore I'd never do it again, then ended up helping a mate with his about 2 months later....

It's had a new rear axle, recon on the front, a new gearbox from Ashcroft - but that was 150k miles ago.
I didn't get the LR to go 'off road' in the traditional sense, but to tow a boat, lug diving gear, and launch the boat off beaches. For that, it's been brilliant.

I used to have a 'target' of 250k miles, but now it's going to be at least 300k, and I can't really see myself changing it unless I can't eventually find some way of managing with the zimmer frame!

I've already appreciated the help I got at the weekend with my LED indicator install. No doubt I'll be along again in due course with lots of other daft questions!

Cheers

Donald
