Hello gents
I've been away a while as sold last p38 and now done it again! haha
I've purchased my mates 2001 4.6 vogue that he's had 8 years
It's been standing for a while now and will not start! He thought it might be usual sync problem so he purchased a sync mate and its coming up with 5 flashes which translates to BECM connection error!
moz smith has looked at it some time ago and he thought it could be wiring fault? obd socket looks ok as do the connections and fuse box seems ok.all usual messages on dash - enter eka, engine immobilised etc...im going to strip door actuator later as its not taking the code? could it be as simple as this??
Now another thought ive had! could the becm be in a stage 2 locked state? if so how can I confirm this?
would I still get the messages on dash if it was locked?
Ive spoke to rick the becm guru about sending becm,engine ecu and key down and getting security removed, but, if poss it would be easier for me at the moment to get it up and running to move it..

That ODB socket is prone to corrosion. Think the BECM only talks with ignition at 2?

No message on the dash?

Any lights flashing when you enter the EKA code?
 
all the usual messages on dash to set everything, engine disabled, press remote or enter keycode..
I've just stripped the actuator and it looks like 1 of the 3 micro switches are buggered! I can only feel/hear 2 click when pressed..I was getting the hazards flash turning to the left on the 1st sequence but when I did it to the right nothing! then nothing when I went back to the left. Had a couple of go's and then came up the usual keycode lockout..so looks like replacing actuator to fix that but still unsure of the communication error? would it throw that up with loss of sync with not being able to enter eka correctly?

If the dash says engine disabled enter EKA or press fob. The the BECM is in an alarmed state and the EKA code needs to be entered to disarm it. If you cannot get the EKA code in because a door lock switch has failed. Someone with a Nanocom can, on your year of vehicle, input the EKA and disarm the BECM. If you still by that time have not sorted the door lock they can disable immobiliser and EKA, but you will have to use key for locking until the door lock is repaired and then the immobilser and EKA can be enabled.

don't be silly al ... me and tony have modified the early warning catcher !!!!! we have had you barred from aldi and we've poisoned the whisky ...... we both agreed its because of yer accent or should that be accident !!!!!!!! ho ho ho
