I’ve got the 5mb and you should be able to do that , one at a time , need to ensure correct half goes in on mains then you can slide it round to the upper end of crank pushing the old one out first
then put lower half in cap , with the big ends rotate crank then push piston up to get enough clearance to install
This is my 200tdi but currently doing the series
well we made a slide hammer to the bearing cap and hammered away until the steel strap 25 x 1 with a sump bolt deformed and the bolt head punched through. buggrit. i'll leave it. sounds really smooth now but the front crank oil seal is leaking a drip every 10 seconds.....
So... I want to do the big ends on a S3 petrol - assume this'll be easier than doing the whole lot... Did anyone ever answer Ciderman's question about the bell housing? I don't want to take out the gearbox if I don't have to....
Can't see big ends being a problem on any engine tbf, mains can be difficult/impossible on some engines I would have thought. Not worked on a series engine though sorry.
I'll tag @ciderman for you.
Sounds like the two hemispheres are running at similar temps - we've got nice cool nights but the days are already up to 30 deg C - it's s'posed to be winter here.
