Evening all,
I wondered if somebody can help me with a problem I just can't get to the bottom of.
My LSE's battery kept discharging overnight and leaving me with a car that wouldn't start. After jump starting the car I was then informed by Landrover that I needed a new air suspension ecu as I had spiked the old one. All was then well for a day and the suspension was working again.
Next thing was the battery light started to flicker and the battery was dead again the following morning.
I tested the alternator and found that it was getting very hot and a degree of melting of the power wire was evident. It was also only charging at 11v. I changed the alternator but the battery light would not go out however it was charging at 14v. The battery light then after a few miles started to flicker in a very dull way. yhe following morning the battery was dead again. I tested the battery again and the meter showed the battery losing power down to about 12v. I tested the alternator and the alternator was only charging at 11v so I put it down to a faulty replacement alternator.
Today the car died again, so I replaced the alternator with another new one and also put on a brand new battery. The alternator was then charging at 15v and the power lead was getting hot again. The battery with the engine off lost power gradually down to 12v and the battery light was on again flickering very dimly.
Has anybody got the faintest idea what is going on with the car or any suggestions on how to cure it?
It still loses battery life even if the alarm isn't on, the only electrical fault on the car that I am aware of is that it needs a new window ecu as one of the rear windows has packed in and I've traced the fault back to the unit under the dash.
Please help I'm running out of money trying to cure it!
Cheers
